We needed to get our two bikes up to Sonoma Valley for the upcoming Ironman 70.3 Vineman triathlon, and given the other gear we would need for the six day trip, we decided to make our own bike rack. Picked up the lockable bike fork mounts on Amazon and got everything else we needed at Home Depot: a 2×4 (cut to fit horizontally across the bed, sanded, painted black to match the bed, and coated with WaterSeal), four stainless steel bolts, various stainless steel lock washers, regular washers, nuts, and screws. We screwed the fork mounts to the wood block, then bolted the wood to the truck bed (having drilled through the bed liner). The bike rears are secured with bungee cords (wrapped around the seat posts) using the rear corner bed tie downs. Really happy with how it turned out.
