For the final day of our long weekend in Palm Springs, we ran the Palm Springs Half Marathon. After riding 102 miles the day before as part of the Tour de Palm Springs, we were both pleasantly surprised to wake up Sunday morning feeling decently fresh. We got dressed, ate half an English muffin with some peanut butter, had some coffee, and then made the five minute drive to near the start line. We had picked up the race packets on Friday evening, so we did not have to arrive too early to the race, which was nice given it was rather cold. We warmed up for a bit and stretched, then soon it was time to start running. Our plan was to stick together and just run according to how we felt.

The miles clicked off easily at first, and we were holding a better pace than we had expected. The last few miles, however, were tough, but we came across in a new PR of 1:41’46” (well, Christopher finished 1 second behind Jennifer). In addition to our finisher’s race medal, we also received a (literal) “brick” award for having also completed the century ride the previous day. Jen got a further award for having taken second place in her age group!

Post-race, we walked a few blocks over to have breakfast at Cheeky’s.
