As a couple, we had never hosted Christmas at our place. This year we decided to get a Christmas tree and have everyone over for the holidays. Christina and Conrado flew up from Honduras, Christopher’s mother flew down from Washington, Jennifer’s mom drove over from Fullerton, and we had the dogs, Potato and Kinako, around as well.

After an early morning run and swim, we all met up in Westwinster for lunch. When we got back home, we were pleasantly surprised by the arrival of a box of overnighted ice creams from Catherine. For dinner, we made a big dish of pasta and veggie meatballs. After dinner, we all (dogs included) piled into the car and drove around the neighborhood to look at Christmas lights. We spent the rest of the evening in front of the tree, listening to Christmas music, eating ice cream, and drinking eggnog and spiced cider.

Christmas morning saw everyone up early, ready to open presents. We started with the stockings first, then moved on to the gifts under the tree. Before dinner, we snuck out for a quick run (in anticipation of all the food to follow) and then all of us walked the neighborhood in search of the wild peacocks that live here. We then celebrated Christopher’s birthday with cake and (more) presents.
