While driving, Christopher happened to catch on NPR Jonathan Gold’s review of the newly opened Shanghai No. 1 Seafood Village in San Gabriel. Sounding like it was very much worth a visit, we took our moms here for dinner. The ambiance is uplifted by the decor that harkens back to Shanghai at the turn of the last century. The menu itself is a small novel, and we carefully chose 7-8 dishes to arrive at a good mix of seafood and veggies. All were excellent, but the Shanghai-style smoked fish was the unanimous favorite. We ended the meal with some blueberry cheesecake we’d brought to celebrate SD Mom’s birthday.
