an anniversary road trip down to mexico.
we stayed at the cozy la fonda, about 45 minutes south of the border. our room had a chiminea and a balcony that overlooked the beach.

day 1: we headed down to the fish market in ensenada and had the best (and cheapest) fish tacos. then a stroll down the boardwalk with a caramel-filled churro for dessert, a brief tour of the cultural center and art museum. dinner was at El Rey Sol.

day 2: we planned to see La Bufadora, but the weather wasn’t cooperating. instead we drove along hwy 1 and pulled off at random stops to take pictures. even with the gray sky, it was beautiful. for lunch, it was lobsters at puerto nuevo. one of the highlights of the trip was the la fonda delight a spa treatment for two (ckh’s first).

day 3: we had the “famous” la fonda sunday brunch and headed back to the border crossing.

in the end, it was a very relaxing and affordable vacation. just what we were looking for.
